LARGEMOUTH BASS

Hildebrandt (McGreth Music BMI)

When I was just a little boy

My Daddy he said to me

"Let me tell you about the largest

Largemouth Bass in history

He goes by the name of the General

And He lives down in the lake

If you try to land this fish

It'll be your last mistake"

My Daddy'd heard about this fish

When he was just a young man

My Uncle Randy had him in his boat

He took off Randy's hand

Men had tried and failed in bass boats

Others in canoes

I saw the look of defeat in my daddy's eye

I knew what I had to do

Take another pass by the hole

Take another cast to soothe my soul

Largemouth bass on my line

Largemouth bass on my mind

After everyone had gone to sleep

I snuck out about three o'clock

I took all of my fishing gear

And I went down to the dock

I took the keys to my Daddy's boat

Silently I paddled away

When I gunned the engines

The vibrations seemed to say

Take another pass by the hole

Take another cast to soothe my soul

Largemouth bass on my line

Largemouth bass on my mind

I trolled around for hours

The hours seemed like days

I tried al of my favorite baits

But I wasn't getting any play

I stuck a whole chicken on a giant hook

And dropped it overboard

And let me tell you people what happened next

Made me say "Oh my Lord!"

Something hit my line like a diesel train

Bent my poor rod in half

My arms were nearly dislocated

I had no breath to laugh

After 45 minutes of a vicious fight

I landed that scaly freak

When I got him up in the boat.

He began to speak.......

"I go back to the native man,

I go back to honest Abe

Some men walked around free,

Others had to be slaves.

Some men wore fancy clothes,

Others had to wear chains.

Some men were treated like animals,

Others thought they had bigger brains"

You know there's some kind of people

Want to make it like it was back then

Keeping all the money and power

In the hands of evil men.

We'll be good godamned if we let em'

and the old fish said to me,

"I live in the water, you live o the land,

we both want Liberty!"

Take another pass by the hole

Take another cast to soothe my soul

Largemouth bass on my line

Largemouth bass on my mind

Take another pass by the hole

Take another cast to soothe my soul

Largemouth bass on my line

Largemouth bass on my mind

NEVER TOO MUCH

Hildebrandt (McGreth Music BMI)

Fast train steaming

But you know it ain't goin noplace

It's a heavy heavy wheel

And the tracks they run up to outer space

You want to run - you can't stand still

You want to have your fun

You can't get your fill - baby!

It's Never too much

You wanna leave

But you ain't got no destination

You talked to Steve

But you didn't enjoy the conversation

You want to run - you can't stand still

You want to have your fun

You can't get your fill - baby!

It's Never too much

You believe in the light

You say it's all about the energy

You tell the story of your life

But you neglected to mention me

You want to run - you can't stand still

You want to have your fun

You can't get your fill - baby!

It's Never too much

BIKE IN THE OCEAN

Hildebrandt (McGreth Music BMI)

Have you tried to see your reflection in the Ocean

Through constantly changing frames of circular motion

A new idea comes and then it's stolen

By the sonds of time and the hands of the waves a-rollin

I tried to ride my bike into the sea

From the scary men on land who were following me
The wheels broke off, the chain broke free

Went in the water and the ocean swallowed me

The thought of drying off was cold as ice

I walked back through the wash and got some advice

Didn't matter that I was torn and didn't feel right

'Cause the tides in our lives sometimes

Come in and out twice

I headed for the hills but the ocean followed me

Too much love and solid history

She held my hand in the sand and kissed my cheek

Looked in the water - saw myself looking back at me

METATRON

Hildebrandt/Ferraro (McGreth Music BMI)

Meaning of this song

Metatron is on the phone

Asking Questions without answers

Gets you when you're all alone

Did he part the waters?

Was it just a tidal change?

The answers to these questions

Always sound so very strange

Bringing you the message

Showing you the light

Cataclysmic changes

Almost overnight

Meaning of this song

Metatron is on the phone

Asking Questions without answers

Gets you when you're all alone

Virgin Conception

Or just a very special boy

So many true believers

Get so easily annoyed

Bringing you the message

Showing you the light

Cataclysmic changes

Almost overnight

Meaning of this song

Metatron is on the phone

Asking Questions without answers

Gets you when you're all alone

LITTLE HOURS

Hildebrandt/Ferraro (McGreth Music BMI)

In the little little hours of a city so deep

You can hear those voices call

And run around you in your sleep

Carrying the message and messages on the old post road

The midnight mare collapsed right here

from carrying a heavy load

They said...There's no love left in the city

Can't go somewhere so old

Without there being a little story to be told

Heard tale of a reverend's daughter

Disillusioned in her dreams

No one could ever figure figure out what these visions mean

One day the demons visited her - asked her one last favor

To kill her father the minister with his long shiny sabre

They said...There's no love left in the city

Can't go somewhere so old

Without there being a little story to be told

Ever heard of Possumtown Jake he had a very unique smell

He used to go down to Englishtown to see what he could sell

One day he met a lady - they really hit it off

She used to beat him every night at cards

He'd sit around and scoff

They said...There's no love left in the city

Can't go somewhere so old

Without there being a little story to be told

THE SUN GOES UP

Hildebrandt (McGreth Music BMI)

The sun goes up

The sun goes down

The moon comes out at night

You might not believe

But somebody loves you

And everything is gonna work out right

Troubles have come

Troubles have passed

Like old Uncle Bob said

The first one will later be last

The sun goes up

The sun goes down

And its all...all comin around

Ride into Jerusalem

Like some kind of boss

One week later

They nail your ass to a cross

The sun goes up

The sun goes down

And its all...all comin around

You could be a lawyer

You could be a liar

You'll be cooking pigeons

Around a garbage can fire

The sun goes up

The sun goes down

And its all...all comin around

Standing on the corner

A lookout for the hole

Ten years later

Could be playing in the super bowl

The sun goes up

The sun goes down

And its all...all comin around

Sittin in the county jail

Just passing the time

Or you could be on a third date

Strolling along the high line

The sun goes up

The sun goes down

And it's all...all coming around

You might feel

Like it's the end of your rope

Someone comes and ties on some string

Gives you a little hope

The sun goes up

The sun goes down

And its all...all comin around

CALL CHARLOTTE

Hildebrandt (McGreth Music BMI)

Call Charlotte - don't ask me
Ain't no problem - It's in the past see?
Called your father on the way to the top

Your mother sends you money you know it won't stop

Saw you in the hotel lobby

Looked so fine in the afternoon

Later things got choppy

Spent the next three days in your room

Call Charlotte - don't ask me
Ain't no problem - It's in the past see?
Called your father on the way to the top

Your mother sends you money you know it won't stop

Rent a car at the airport

Left you on the side of route one

Put a knife through your surfboard

You got a different kind of way of having fun

Call Charlotte - don't ask me
Ain't no problem - It's in the past see?
Called your father on the way to the top

Your mother sends you money you know it won't stop

Pitched a tent on the bay beach

First beer had you feeling kind of drunk

Your arms are short but they may reach

Around the wasit of a professional punk

Call Charlotte - don't ask me
Ain't no problem - It's in the past see?
Called your father on the way to the top

Your mother sends you money you know it won't stop

They call you sticky fingers

You think everything is yours

Come into town like Jesse James

You go out on the back of a horse

Call Charlotte - don't ask me
Ain't no problem - It's in the past see?
Called your father on the way to the top

Your mother sends you money you know it won't stop
